Come to Canada through Saskatchewan

SINP Skilled Workers

This category has been welcomed by employers and prospective applicants.  The program’s criteria are very clear and the applications are efficiently processed.

The SINP Skilled Workers category requires applicants (who cannot be refugee claimants) to meet two primary criteria:

1. Have a job offer in National Occupational Classification (NOC) Matrix level “0″, “A” or “B”

or

Have worked in Saskatchewan on a Temporary Work Permit for at least six months in a job that is in (NOC) Matrix level “A” or “B” or in a designated trade in Saskatchewan;

AND

2. Have at least 35 points in the SINP Assessment Rating which gives points based on your education, work experience, age, language ability, personal financial resources and adaptability.

You may be wondering how to get a job offer in Saskatchewan to meet criteria #1.   If you have a friend or relative already here, they may be able to make that connection for you.  Or, if you look at saskjobs.ca you will see 8,000 to 10,000 job postings-perhaps there is an employer looking for someone with your skills.

If you do obtain a job offer and you have at least 35 points in the Assessment Rating, then you are at the stage where forms can be prepared and an application package can be submitted to SINP.  If everything is properly prepared, within a few months you should learn whether you have been nominated by Saskatchewan.

If you are nominated, then two things can happen:

  • Your Permanent Resident Application documents can be submitted to the visa office where criminality, security and medical checks can be assessed; and
  • You can apply for an Open Work Permit which will allow you to enter Canada and to begin working while you await the result of the processing of your Permanent Resident Application.
